Cookies!

Homemade sugar cookies are one of our favorites to make around the holidays. They are pretty tasty and a whole lot of fun to make. We have been doing this since the big kids were little. They just have a ball mixing, rolling, cutting, painting and sprinkling. It truly is a mess - but so worth the effort! I totally wimped out and bought premade icing...but the girls loved it just the same, not as many color choices but they made due. I don't know if you can tell but the girls cookies say a lot about them. Hope is overindulgent...she needs icing height and a lot of weight to her decor. Love...she is a minimalist...she prefers a light smidgen of icing with a short but sassy shake of sprinkles. Too funny!

Easter at School

Love played with the kids after the hunt. She was carefully watched by her big sister and her big sister was carefully watched by an admirer.

Love "posing" for pictures...we are so proud. I mostly used the photo because of the super cute outfit...thanks Bella!

Remember the boy who brought Hope candy for Valentine's Day? Here he is...so embarrassed he couldn't even make eye contact with me. And he is still smitten...If you ask Hope about it she will say "He is just a boy, like my best friend boy, who I hang out with a lot." Funny.

My egg hunting photos were not so great...a lot of wind and other children caught in the excitement of the eggs...it just does something to kids to know that the candy is in there but not visible. They go cuh-razee!

How's the Choppers?

How do you like the title? When I used to work as a temporary I heard that one a lot...especially from the old school guys. It always made me smirk...it is just so corny.

3 of the 4 kiddos went to the dentist today for their 6 month prophy and exams. They all did great. In fact, Love even tolerated the entire visit!! She had her teeth checked, polished, and even a fluoride application. She is such a big girl. There are grown grandmas more fearful of the dentist (shout out to Mi Mi). I love that all my children feel completely comfortable at the dentist. It proves to be beneficial to start them young...even if they are only watching big sister or brother. Not only does it begin laying their oral care foundation and familiarity with the staff and office but it encourages them to take a sense of ownership in their dental health. That to me is important! I mean truly a person's smile speaks volumes...it doesn't have to be the straightest or the whitest but to have a dirty mouth...well, there is just no excuse. Of course, that is the dental hygienist in me rising up...I think I might miss my profession just a little ;)

Love's check up was perfect, Hope has a tiny pit of decay (due to an enamel deficiency) and Faith...well, he said..."She's ready for braces!" Oh Lord, could you spot a girl a thousand....or five?

Hunter goes tomorrow for his orthodontist check up, prophy and exam...he had the math TAKS test today and we had to reschedule. Truth be told, he'd have rather been in the dental chair.

Now, that is what I call twisting some one's arm to play...shouldn't there have been a whistle?

Faith is having a season of humility. She has always rested on her past performance on all the teams she has ever played on. This season she moved up ahead of her own age bracket and these coaches have had the same team for 8 years...so needless to say, she has to prove her self. She started out with 5 minutes per half, then went to 10 minutes per half, now she plays much more than she sits but she is still fighting for her position. While I would love nothing more than for her to play the entire game sometimes it takes a good humbling to appreciate your position, not only on the field but in life in general. I love seeing her fight for it...putting in extra practice, focusing, really committing to it. I think she is truly experiencing the fruits of her labor. It has been years since Faith has had a coach that wasn't taken back by her performance...especially her speed. These coaches have not really seen her run full throttle - we are dying for her to Just Do It! I have threatened being one of those embarrassing moms that screams random things at their kid...like "Hey Faith...Got Your Wheels On?!!" Can you even imagine...oh, the horror. Don't think it isn't a tactic in my back pocket though. Just kidding...well....sorta ;)
